CHILDREN
I aim to capture those one-of-a-kind expressions and ordinary moments that you love
most about your child. Upon first meeting your little one, I spend some time getting to
know them so that they quickly warm up to me. From there, the session just truly flows
with your child as the director. This simple and relaxed approach allows me to
capture who your child really is. In looking back at your photographs years from now, my
desire is that you see images that not only portray your child's outer beauty, but also their
inner soul.
Location
All portrait sessions are on-location either in the comfort of your home or at your favorite
outdoor spot. I will work with you to make your child comfortable and bring out their
smiles. I usually use children’s music to as a fun atmosphere and allow as many change of
clothing as you would like. Sessions last between one to two hours. We will work together
to determine the best time for you and your family.
Clothing
When picking out clothing, it is important to think about what type of look and feel you
would like reflected in your photographs. If you are going for a more classic look, I would
try to avoid any clothing with logos and distracting patterns or colors. Simplicity is truly the
key. For babies I recommend no clothing at all, as bare skin always photographs best. For
kids I recommend basic styles, solid colors and bare feet. A trendy style is also adorable on
children. Use your imagination to combine bright colors and fun accessories, such as shoes,
tights and hats. The look is completely up to you and, most importantly, should reflect the
unique personality of your child. Be sure to bring a few different outfits if we go out on
location so we can mix it up during our time together.
Newborns
Newborn sessions are best held in the first two weeks of life to achieve that sleepy, curled up look. The
sessions will typically last one to three hours to allow for the needs of your new little one. Newborns are
happiest when they are warm and well fed, so please plan on feeding your baby before I arrive and turn the
heat up a few notches to get the house nice and cozy. I also recommend swaddling in just a diaper and
blanket, so we can avoid disrupting them by removing their clothes later on. Lastly, I have found it works best
to schedule your newborn session before your delivery date to ensure we photograph your little one at the
ideal age. |
